Years with an Old Machine: Producing Despite Constant Breakdowns
Gülhan’s production journey continued for years with a second-hand sewing machine that frequently malfunctioned. Without the financial means to purchase a new one, she kept repairing it each time it broke down and carried on working. Balancing household responsibilities, childcare, and hospital processes alongside production, technical failures became her greatest challenge. Continuing without any institutional support, her perseverance became a powerful example of determination and resilience.
Transformation Through MaviKalem: New Tools, Renewed Hope
When her path crossed with MaviKalem, the greatest change for Gülhan was feeling that she was no longer carrying the burden alone. The new sewing machine and electric scissors provided through the program were more than technical equipment; they represented uninterrupted production and the possibility of a stable income. As soon as the machine was installed, she sewed her first product. Today, she works faster and with greater confidence. Thanks to the new equipment, she is excited to double her production capacity and strengthen her economic independence.
The Future Master Trainer: A Dream of Sharing Knowledge
Gülhan’s journey is not only about sustaining the present. Holding a master trainer certificate, she dreams of teaching at public education centers in the future and passing on the skills she taught herself to other women. The support she received has not only accelerated her production but has also opened the door to a hopeful future where she can share her knowledge and experience with others.
“For years I struggled with broken machines, but now with this new one I can do twice the work. I’m no longer thinking only about today, I can finally think about the future where I teach others.”
