Sibel Kabaali: The Story of Abundance and Solidarity Born from the Ashes

Sibel Kabaali is a woman who brings life to the soil with her warmth, endless perseverance, and admirable courage. Continuing production in her field without letting snow or winter stop her—even under the harshest seasonal conditions—Sibel cultivates each season’s vegetables with great care. For Sibel, who keeps watch day and night to protect her crops from the freezing cold of winter, the land is not just a source of livelihood, but a way of holding onto life.

A Struggle Starting from Scratch

The February 6 earthquake left deep wounds in Sibel’s life; she lost her home, her car, and her livestock. When her husband was injured in the earthquake and became unable to work, the entire burden of the family and children fell onto Sibel’s shoulders. However, despite the massive losses she experienced, she did not give up. Shortly after the earthquake, saying “from scratch,” she returned to her field. Even though she sometimes suffered financial losses in sales made through middlemen, she did not resent the land and never gave up producing for even a single moment.

MaviKalem: The Power that Comes with Modern Equipment

Sibel’s greatest challenge in production was her struggle to protect her crops from harmful bacteria and insects. The spraying work, which she used to do with primitive methods by exerting great physical strength and getting exhausted, completely changed with the spraying machine support provided by MaviKalem. Thanks to this modern equipment, she can now protect her products much more effectively and easily. With her physical burden lightened, Sibel uses the time and energy she has gained to make her field more productive.

Abundance through Sharing

Sibel’s struggle is not limited to her own family; she has also opened the doors of her heart completely to her sister in need and her sister’s children. Working hand in hand, shoulder to shoulder in the field with her sister, Sibel shares both her home and the abundance of the products she grows with them. With the support her husband provides to the best of his ability, she continues to green the lands of Hatay within a great family solidarity.

Future Goal: A Broader Production Network

Today, Sibel Kabaali looks at every sprout in her field with hope. Her greatest dream is to scale up her production day by day, expand her business, and bring the fruits of her labor to a much wider audience. Standing tall and refusing to back down in the face of adversity, Sibel serves as a prime example of productivity and women’s solidarity.

“We lost everything, but we didn’t lose our land or our hope. Now, I am protecting my field with my new machine, and by working shoulder to shoulder with my sister, we are both putting our children through school and making this city bloom again.”
