Bilgen Küçük: “I will keep fighting.”

Wedding dress, hair and make-up before the wedding, all in one place!

Bilgen started working as a hairdresser at a young age and decided to build her life and do her job. When she took her first step on this journey by opening a hair salon, the difficulties she faced taught her to grow stronger instead of stopping her. 20 years ago, Bilgen cashed her bracelets and formalized her business. With the advice of her mother, she also started selling wedding dresses. She was determined to develop her business according to whatever the need was.

In the February 6 earthquake, she lost her shop, the accumulation of 30 years of her professional life!

It was only a few days after the earthquake that he was able to go and look in his shop. The building was badly damaged and her belongings were trapped inside.  But his son, despite the risk, went inside the shop and took out the wedding dresses he could save. Bilgen did not know what to do with them!

“I thought it was all over, I didn’t believe I could go back to work.”

Bilgen says she found the courage to start working again with the support of her customers and MaviKalem. “When the wedding season came, my customers started calling me. Our brides called me and asked me to prepare them for their weddings.” She started to sew and alter the wedding dresses they could take out of her shop by hand at home. Of course, doing these works by hand was both more tiring and time-consuming. The materials provided by MaviKalem’s program accelerated her work and supported her to get back on her feet.

If you are in Hatay Samandağ and getting married, you can go to Belgin Gelinlik for both your hair and your wedding dress!

“Thanks to your support, I believed that I could start my business again. Maybe nothing will ever be the same again, but I will continue to fight.”

Bilgen wants to return to the order she has been used to for years. With this desire, she reopened Belgin Weddding Dress in Tomruksuyu, Samandağ. She continues to renovate some parts of her workplace. She wants to sell wedding dresses as well as wedding suits, so she aims to give couples the comfort of getting service from a single place.  She also sells wedding dresses, henna and engagement dresses by publishing them on her Instagram account.

“Have confidence in yourself and start small with what you want to do. Shape the development of your business according to demand and conditions.”
