Nedime Dağ: She used to weave chandelier stones at home, now she has her own workshop!

“No one should look back. They may say, ‘You are staying behind at home, you are not taking care of your children. It doesn’t matter. It is important that you do what you have in mind. You may have an idea but you may not know how to do it, you ask for support. Fifteen years ago, I could see this day. I made a lot of effort. As long as women want it and focus on it. There is nothing we cannot do.”
Nedime Dağ never gave up on her dreams. “I forged my own path in spite of those who wanted to stop me,” she says. At a time when women are empowered in business life and create their own brands, she inspires with her story. When they said, “You are falling behind at home, you cannot spare time for your children,” she moved forward without listening to what they said. “Nothing matters. If you have an idea, there is a way. Fifteen years ago, I could see this day. I struggled, I fought and finally I succeeded.”
Fifteen years ago, Nedime started weaving chandelier stones to support her home. The work was small, but she had a big dream. While knitting chandelier stones, she started to pull cables and then started to design. She created a few models and started to make sales by visiting shopkeepers. Initially selling a few models to shopkeepers, she decided to expand the business and increase production. Gradually, she established her own workshop and opened a point of sale. “My children started working with me when they were only 7 or 8 years old. We had no staff. But we worked together, grew the business and shaped our brand,” she says.
However, years of labor were destroyed one day by an earthquake. She lost both her workplace and her workshop. But this did not deter her. “I will do everything again. There is no giving up,” she said and took another step on the path she started from the beginning. She opened a new shop in the Ekinci neighborhood of Antakya. It was hard to start over after the earthquake, but she worked relentlessly to realize her dream despite everything. She aims to take new steps by dreaming bigger in the production place she moved to Istanbul. She dreams of expanding the “Eylül Chandelier” brand not only in Hatay but also in other cities, opening branches and creating employment. She works hard to grow and strengthen her business.
