Nazire Güzel: She Adds Her Love to Food

You should make your way here and taste Nazire’s delicious handmade raw meatballs!

Nazire was primarily interested in agriculture and animal husbandry to educate her 4 children and provide income for the household. She grew and sold vegetables and took care of cattle. She educated her children and they became professionals. Even though her children wanted their mother to rest, she did not want to stay at home. In 2016, she started a çiğköfte shop. She didn’t stop with just raw meatballs. She added delicious home-cooked meals, cold appetizers, pancakes, hamburgers and toasts to her menu. Her delicious dishes were recognized and admired by the people around her. A customer base was formed. Teachers were requesting and ordering home cooked meals from Nazire.

After the February 6 earthquake, her workplace was destroyed. She salvaged what she could from inside. Her return to work was not easy, she could not start work for a long time.

‘After the earthquake I collapsed psychologically, I thought I could never start again.’

After the earthquake, Nazire couldn’t find the strength to start work, she thought she couldn’t. But MaviKalem’s project gave her a light. Nazire, who was included in the project because of the meetings, started to produce a little at home and sell it to those around her thanks to the material support, making her work easier and faster.

Nazire was offered a workplace in the prefabricated bazaar. She wanted to take advantage of this opportunity. She quickly remodeled the shop and moved the materials she saved from her old workplace during the earthquake to the new workplace. Her children supported her during the establishment of the workplace.

”I felt better mentally when I started my business. I’m happy that I have an occupation, even if it’s not a job. That’s how I relaxed.”

Nazire does her job with love. She continues to produce delicious products such as çiğköfte, pancakes, hamburgers, toast, home-cooked meals, etc. in her workplace. She can also meet her needs with the money she earns.

”They tell me that you have educated and raised your children and you don’t need to work, but this has nothing to do with that. I love this job and I want to work. I am very happy in my job. Life goes on and we will try to work as much as we can.”
