Dilan Yoğun Manicure, Permanent Nail Polish and More!

Dilan was working at a beauty center in Samandağ before the earthquake. However, due to the February 6 earthquakes, the center closed down and she had difficulty finding a new job. For a while, she waited for the center to reopen. However, when the center reopened, it downsized due to the earthquake and had to lay off some of its employees. Dilan was among those laid off.

She applied for a new job, but it was very difficult to find a job in the earthquake zone. She did not want to stay at home, she wanted to work and regain her economic independence. But she had no professional equipment and did not know where to start. Dilan, who loved the hairdressing profession, started to do manicures for her family with her own nail care kit and nail polish. In this process, she improved herself by watching videos. She utilized the period when she was not working by learning and practicing for her family and friends.

As she continued to improve herself, she wanted to turn this into a business. With her participation in MaviKalem’s program, her business picked up speed!

“When I heard about MaviKalem’s project, I got my hopes up. This was a great opportunity for me. I really wanted to start my own business, but I didn’t know where to start because the conditions were inadequate. I believed that this project would be a breath of fresh air for me.”

After buying the nail care kit she needed, Dilan started to provide services by going to homes. Thus, she took the first step towards starting her own business. Currently, she goes to the homes of women around her and performs procedures such as manicure, nail polish, permanent nail polish and hair coloring. She expands her customer base both by announcing her work on her social media account and with the guidance of the people around her.

However, working from house to house is of course quite tiring for her. As she continues to improve herself, she wants to get a certificate of mastery and open her own workplace.

“I love my job. Now my goal is to get a certificate of mastery and open my workplace. I want to have a beauty salon where my customers can come and get service. I work by carrying nail kit materials and going from house to house, but it is very tiring this way.”
